Each year, Yakima Chief Hops (YCH), a global hop supplier for the brewing community, collaborates with military veteran brewers across the country to select a new hop blend recipe for their annual Veterans Blend. Currently in its 5th year, this hop blend supports and celebrates US military Veterans while collaborating with brewers to create something bigger than beer.
Veteran owned brewing partners from across the nation came together both virtually and in person at the Craft Brewers Conference in Minneapolis to choose the 5th Annual Veterans Blend… Blend B!
The 5th annual blend is comprised of five different Pacific Northwest-grown varieties including HBC 586, Ekuanot®, Idaho 7®, Chinook and Triumph brand hops. It will perform well in any hop forward beer, providing a well-balanced mix of tropical, citrus, woody and sweet aromatic aromas. The blend creates a hop pellet with a much wider range of flavor characteristics than could be provided by any one variety alone.
When you purchase this years Veterans Blend, you are contributing $3 per pound to the 501(c)3 non-profit, HunterSeven Foundation. HunterSeven specializes in medical research and education surrounding Veteran illnesses that arise from potential toxic exposures post 9/11. It is HunterSeven’s mission to use that research to help Veterans receive proactive screening while also assisting them through their medical care journey.
